Edelbrock carburetors are known for their consistent fuel delivery, straightforward tuning, and improved throttle response compared to factory emissions-era units. The chrome Edelbrock air cleaner assembly is clearly visible in the engine bay and is consistent with someone who put thoughtful work into this drivetrain. Behind the engine is a GM 700R4 four-speed automatic overdrive transmission. The 700R4 was introduced by General Motors in 1982 and was a significant improvement over the earlier Turbo-Hydramatic 350 it often replaced. It is a durable, well-supported unit with a large aftermarket parts base.
