By 2013, GM had refined the platform considerably — the electrical systems were more mature, the interior quality had been upgraded over the early third-gen cars, and the 6.2-liter L94 V8 was well proven. This was also the final stretch before Cadillac completely redesigned the Escalade for 2015 on an all-new platform, which means a clean, well-equipped 2013 Cadillac Escalade like this one represents the last expression of a specific era in American full-size luxury SUVs. The 6.2-liter V8 in this generation Escalade was rated at 403 horsepower and 417 lb-ft of torque from the factory. It used GM's Active Fuel Management system, which can deactivate four cylinders under light load to improve highway fuel economy. The L94 is a variation of the LS-family architecture, which means parts are widely available, the engine has a strong reliability record, and performance upgrades are well documented. The 6.2 paired to the 6L80 six-speed automatic gives the truck enough torque to handle trailer loads up to 8,300 pounds on properly equipped models, and the transmission shifts cleanly through its ratios without hunting. The K&N intake is visible in the engine bay and is a known, respected brand — this is not a cheap parts-store filter but a proper performance intake system designed for this application. The air suspension is one of the features that separates the Escalade from its Chevrolet Tahoe and Suburban platform siblings. The system automatically adjusts rear ride height to compensate for loads, and it provides a noticeably more controlled ride quality than conventional coil-over rear setups. The undercarriage photos on this vehicle show a clean, intact structure consistent with a truck that spent time in a dry climate or saw limited exposure to road salt — there is no significant corrosion present. The front independent suspension and rear five-link setup are in good visual condition.
